Underground Double-Wall Fuel Tanks

Underground Double-Wall Fuel Tanks

Underground Double-Wall Fuel Tanks

Underground double-wall fuel tanks with secondary containment and a monitorable interstitial space for enhanced protection and early leak detection.

APMI manufactures underground double-wall fuel tanks consisting of an inner steel tank enclosed by an outer steel shell, providing an additional level of protection and secondary containment.

The interstitial space between the two walls can be connected to a dedicated monitoring and leak-detection system, supporting early detection and helping protect the surrounding site and soil.

Tank capacity, dimensions, connections and protective coating systems are specified according to project requirements and site conditions. Manufacturing includes steel forming and welding, dimensional and weld inspection, integrity testing of the inner tank and interstitial space, surface preparation and coating before delivery.

The tanks can also be integrated with leak-detection systems, cathodic protection, fuel piping, transportation and installation services according to the scope of each project.

Frequently Asked Questions

It consists of an inner steel storage tank enclosed by an outer steel shell. The space between the two walls can be monitored for early leak detection and additional containment.
A single-wall tank has one storage shell, while a double-wall tank adds an outer shell and a monitorable interstitial space, providing an additional level of protection and containment.
The interstitial space can be connected to a suitable monitoring or leak-detection system based on the tank design and project requirements.
Yes. Capacity, dimensions, connections and protective systems can be specified according to operational requirements, site conditions and project specifications.
